5th test at Manchester cancelled due to covid concerns in India camp
The 5th test between India and England set to begin at Manchester from 10th September has been cancelled after hours of frantic discussions between BCCI and ECB.
After there was a 4th covid case of junior physio Yogesh Parmer. Fears got into the Indian camp and they became hesitant to take the field. As the doubts kept increasing about commencement of the match since last 24 hours.
It came to light that at least 3 Indian players were not comfortable I’m playing this test match
It may be recalled that earlier the Indian team coach Ravi Shastri along with the bowling. And fielding coach has tested positive and are currently isolating. 5th test at Manchester cancelled due to covid concerns in India camp. Series incomplete at 2-1.
This means that the series is incomplete . There was a confusion whether the match is forfeited or cancelled but finally on the behest of BCCI, the ECB has issued a statement mentioning that the match is cancelled.
The statement from ECB is as under
Following ongoing conversations with the BCCI, the ECB can confirm. That the fifth LV= Insurance Test between England and India Men due to start today at Emirates Old Trafford, will be cancelled. Due to fears of a further increase in the number of COVID cases inside the camp. India are regrettably unable to field a team.

Moreover PTI has shared in its Twitter feed that the Manchester test is likely to be played at a later date and hence the series is incomplete with India leading 2-1 .
