In the 14 year of IPL history, we have come across many records that will take ages to emulate particularly in T20 cricket in which a player has no time to focus on records due to the speed at which the T20 format is played.

Let us have a look at five such invincible records.

  1. Alzarri Joseph best bowling figures (6/12) as debutant 2019

In the 2019 edition Alzarri Joseph made his T20 IPL debut against Sunrisers Hyderabad for Mumbai Indians. After MI scored only 136 in their batting innings, Sunrisers were expected to win but Alzarri bowled an inspired spell as a debutant and decimated the SRH batting taking 6/12. SRH were all out for 96. It is very tough as a debutant in IPL to get 6 wickets in 4 overs . Therefore this record should exist for ages.

  1. Chris Gayle 37 runs in an over vs Kochi Tuskers 2011

We heard 25-26 runs in an over IPL , 36 runs in an over by Yuvraj , Gibbs etc in international cricket but never heard 37 runs in an over. That came in a match between RCB and Kochi Tuskers . The now-defunct Kochi team scored only 125 and RCB won easily . In RCB innings Gayle hit 6 sixes in an over of Prashanth Parameswaran in which there was also a no-ball. Hence 37 runs came in that over which will never be broken .

3 Kohli-Devilliers 229 run stand vs Gujarat Lions 2016.

It is very tough to emulate a record of 229 run stand in a T20 match . Kohli and de Villiers managed to create this massive record against Gujarat Lions in 2016 with Kohli getting 102 and de Villiers smashing 129 off just 52 balls . They have another great stand of 215 in IPL. Hence it is very tough to emulate their records .

4 Chris Gayle 175 off 69 balls with 17 sixes vs Pune Warriors 2013

That Gaylestorm special is highly unlikely to be emulated . 175 runs 13 fours 17 sixes is unreal batting. Very unlikely that this record will be emulated in many of our lifetimes.

5 Virat Kohli 4 centuries in 973 runs in IPL 2916

Virat Kohli was in sensational form in 2016 edition . 973 runs at 81 average and 152 strike rate were stunning figures. And to top it all he has hit 4 centuries in 2016 edition. Even one century in a full IPL is a tough ask for any batsman and Virat hit 4 centuries in a single season. Looks unlikely to be eclipsed in a hurry.
