3 Indian players who need to buckle up against England in the fourth Test
India vs England Test series is going on and India needs to pull up its socks as the third Test did not go very well Team India. The 4th Test will begin on 2nd September 2021 and Team England would try to dominate this match as it would crush the Indian team. Team India suffered a heavy loss at the hands of the English team at Headingley. Virat Kohli and his men were overtaken by an innings and 76 runs at the hands of Joe Roots’ team.
It’s time that Virat Kohli and his team paid attention to what’s in store for them. It’s going to be a lot of pressure on the skipper and his teammates but a few players are going to take the most of the burden and would surely be on the radar. Here’s our list of 3 3 Indian players who need to buckle up against England in the fourth Test.
3. Ravindra Jadeja
Ravindra Jadeja so far in the 5-Test series has been quite a forgettable player. Neither with bat nor with the ball could he create any magic on the field. He has played 5 innings in this series till now and this has amounted to 133 runs at an average of 26.60. The most underwhelming aspect of his game in this series had been his dismissal for two single-digit scores.
On the other hand, Jadeja could not do any wonders with the ball too. He has taken only 2 wickets till now. It’s safe to say that Jadeja is going to be under the microscope in the coming match. He needs to make his game strong either with bat or ball to stay intact in the team.
2. Ajinkya Rahane
India’s vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane is going to be under a lot of od pressure not only because of the designation that he holds in the team but also because he has not been doing great with the willow lately. Needs to pull up his socks and get in the form in the fourth match both for his and the team’s sake. He has played 5 innings in this series and could scrape off only 95 runs at an average of 19.00.
He got the chance to bat in 4 out of 5 innings in the series and could not even cross the 20-run mark. Both innings of the third Test saw Rahane’s dismissal for the deliveries just outside the off-stump. Not only this series against England but the 17 innings that Rahane has played this year, he has managed to score only 358 runs. It’s okay for a player to go through a rough patch and we keep seeing this on the field but this is high time that Rahane gets back in the form.
1. Rishabh Pant
Rishabh Pant is one of the most talented batsmen in the Indian team right now but the 5 innings that the players have wielded his willow in, have not been very fruitful for the country of the player. He could score only 87 runs at an average of 17.40.
Pant failed miserably in the third Test as he could score a total of 3 runs, both the innings put together. He has not been able to cross the 30-run mark except for one inning. Ollie Robinson became the reason for Pant’s dismissal in both the innings in the third Test. During the first innings, Robinson edged the ball to Jos Buttler, and the second time he put the ball straight into Craig Overtone’s hands. Pant left the ground only with one run. Pant is a swashbuckling player but it’s time that he proved his worth in the team.
