2nd edition of LPL is abandoned due to various reasons

The 2nd edition of the Lanka Premier league has been abandon. The official reason put forward is the lack of availability of international players due to the tight international schedule with almost all national teams having tour programs. Also, the CPL and the IPL has absorbed the little bit of window that was available.

However, the other reason which is responsible for this roadblock is the major disagreements between the board and some franchise owners. 2nd edition of LPL is abandoned due to various reasons.

At least 3 franchises of the LPL, Colombo Kings, Dambulla Vikings and Jaffna Stallions. Have been suspend due to major disagreements between the owners and the board.

The board is already looking at floating new franchise teams. Once the ICC gives a go-ahead after going through the credentials of the prospective new owners.

However, the fact remains that due to a tight international calendar including the CPL and IPL schedules. The Srilankan authorities will have a struggle to find a proper window for the league to move on.
